For Sale Myford Mystro Lathe £500
« on: December 27, 2024, 08:21:04 PM »
Reluctant sale due to an imminent move, there will be no workshop for a year or so at the next house so selling all the bigger items.

This lathe was previously supplied to Keith Rowley as his demo machine and, as their 'ambassador' I think it was maintained by Myfords during that period. A brilliant lathe with electronic reversable speed control and a headstock that can rotate enabling larger bowls to be turned with the secondary toolwork and a 2nd banjo.

It has only had light hobby use since and a new inverter was added earlier this year. There are 4 toolrests - 2.1/2", 6", 12"and 24" with a 2nd banjo. Spindle thread is 1.1/8" x 12 I believe.

Also included is a back plate for an Axminster Superprecision Chuck plus various faceplates including a large cast iron sanding disc (+ anything else I can muster). Can be seen working up to halfway through January then it will have to be dismantled.

Any queries please ask. Collection only, we are 1 hour south of the Dartford Tunnel, just off of the A21.

£500

Agreed but I would rather it went now as it would only end up in a damp garage for a year or so whilst I build the next W/S (+ I regret selling my big'un and I would have the excuse to get another - but don't tell SWMBO). This was my second Mystro - two of us went up to see Chris Moore at Myfords and stocked up with lots of goodies.  I sold mine to upgrade and my friend kept his (+VB36).  He passed away last year so I then bought this one from his son.

The Mystro, I would consider, was way ahead of its time.  There was nothing to touch it then and it can still hold its own against a lot out there e.g. the secondary bowl attachment is so well engineered that you simply do not need a ground support.

I will miss it but needs must.
