i'm sure it has its used but i expect they are somewhat limited.

Yes it's mine! It's been gathering dust in my workshop for many years. I think it was possibly made by Poolewood. It appears to grip well and has a centre hole to assist with centring of the wood blank but has obvious limitations as to the size of blank that can be accommodated.
