axminster o'donnell jaw compatibility with other chuck makes
« on: December 28, 2021, 11:04:48 AM »
Hi folks having a Rutland 100 and RP SC4 I can confirm the jaws are compatible between the two chucks. The SC4 standard jaws are made from thinner steel, hence longer fixing screws are required to fit the Rutland jaws.
My query concerns the Axminster O'Donnell jaw system screw hole dimensions are they compatible with the RP SC4?? Yes ....I am trying to avoid buying another chuck!!

The last time I looked the thread spacing was the same on my old (now sold) SC4 and my Axminster SK100. I think the bolts are a different size though. Also, the majority of wood turning chucks use a recess in the chuck to take a raised step on the accessory jaws. Axminster do things the other way round and have a raised step on the chuck jaws and a recess on the accessory jaws. See the attached picture of an SK100.
