Christmas wood
« on: December 02, 2021, 04:39:58 PM »
Just a simple bit of fun turned between centres on offcuts.  Either dark woods or light woods with an initial black spirit stain (which generally works better with the paint) and gold wax paste and iridescent green paint overlay.  Started as a bauble and grew to a wood (?copse) to form part of an advent window display.  Easy but quite seasonal.
Wax and paint tubes in foreground.

OK - with even more trees as requested.  The colour variation (also requested) comes from the woods used and with/without black spirit stain.  FTR offcuts in awkward shapes work fine, making a rough cone first.  Note that the circles on the branches come from the paint (applied at low speed on the lathe) not from the wood.
