Not really, I use the quick set for convenience and slower setting if I need strength, as I don't use it much or often I just go for the 2 syringe type generally sourced from Lidl whenever they have it in stock. Only thing of value I can contribute is on the ebony give it a wipe with acetone to remove some of the natural oil before gluing.

There is a make by the name of 151 which I have been using for a good few years. It used be available on ebay at about £1 for a two-tube pack, but then became difficult to find, which was hardly surprising at that price. However, it's clearly back on the market and now at £2/75 for a two-tube pack, which still compares very well with some proprietory brands. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151-Epoxy-Glue-Strong-Adhesive-for-repairs-all-around-the-household-25g/143687080004?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

One useful tip....in cold weather, pumping the epoxy out of the tubes can be a little trying, to say the least. Try warming the tubes with a hot air gun; the epoxy flows really easily and makes far less mess.

West System  epoxy is a boatbuilding glue and would woek well .The essential thing is to prepare the brass by roughing it .and most imortant of all, clean with alcohol and do not touch any of the glue area with your hands at all as skin grease however little can affect the bond  Also wash the ebony with alcohol just before gluing

For small amounts, Araldite or Gorilla glue epoxy are both fine.
