Fluted Ash platter
« on: October 29, 2020, 03:40:06 PM »
This is my second attempt at fluting. It is 33cm in diameter and in a nicely figured piece of Ash that was quite different in hardness across the grain and as a result some of the flutes needed more sanding that others. Finished in satin acrylic lacquer. C&C welcome

Very impressive piece of work. The detail of the fluting is crisp. I like it a lot.

Hi Colin,
A very stunning piece of work did you use a Router set up to do the Fluting perhaps a picture of your set up would be interesting I think this is worthy of putting on the Home Page. ;)

                                                       Regards John

That is a stunning piece of Ash, the grain is so close and tight.

You've done it proud keeping the decoration just enough to be effective but not swamp the grain, nice work.
