Been researching the art deco period of design. This one is fairly obviously from that era. The main part is bubinga and the supports and central boss are rippled maple. Overall diameter is 12 1/2"

Apart from working out the design the hardest part is actually putting all the pieces together LOL. The turning part is the easiest.

Pete, is that a small piece of quilted maple in the centre?

Great use of what I imagine was a thin bowl blank that would have been difficult to turn much out of.

Hi Bryan. Bothe cente boss and the base and stand ar made from quilted maple.  The bubinga was a platter I made many years ago that just wasn't right so it has been re allocated. At the moment I am looking to use old wood and materials and go down differnet routes using turning . Finding it fascinating.
