Which way is up?

A little bit of abstract art. This is something I definitely will explore further.
Main body is birch, with inserts made from norway maple, sycamore, turkish and english walnut, wenge and padauk. About 12" diameter.
As usual, all comments welcome.

Fun project. The texturing of the base looks good. Regarding 'which way up', the last photo looks best to me

why not mount it on a bearing??? then the customer can decide...

It has the look/feeling of an art-deco ceramic ornament/decorative piece.
But that does not detract from the originality of the idea you've created.
