First makes of the mnth
« on: June 05, 2020, 11:07:41 AM »
Running out of space in the stock room so a few smaller things.
These are a bit of a mix as they are shaped like traditional tea bowls or chawan but have lids like Chawanmushi or soup bowls. I'll just call them tea bowl style boxes LOL. All are made from cherry and the two with seoerate finials are ebony and walnut. Note the diddy little finial for the one with the walnut finial.  They are all about 3 1/2" tall and 3" diameter.
C&C welcome as always.

Pete

Sorry Pete, they're not for me. Its a personal bias of mine to leave straight lines for engineers so your straight sides, bases and, in one case, lid leave me crying out for tiny, tasteful, curves in their place.
Wouldnt do for us all to think the same now would it???
all the best
Brian

Of the 3, the only one that works for me it the top one.

The knob on the second one shows light under the joint and the last one (I hope is only the angle of the photo) the finial looks out of balance.
Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!

The joint shows light under it because it is curved as is the top of the lid, it's deliberate Bryan lol. The last one is dead centre as well.Possibly looks off because the photo os taken at an angle.
