Cup burrs
« on: July 05, 2020, 11:33:54 AM »
I am looking for some cup burrs of a decent size. about 5mm upwards. Only ones I have found so far are from the states which makes them exorbitant price with postage. As they tend to be made for the jewellery industry they are usually all 2mm and smaller in the UK.Anyone any sources closer to home of larger ones please?

I seem to recall there was an article/review in the Woodturning Magazine some time ago where these were used?

I recall investigating but came to the same conclusion that they were only available in the States and that was where the author of the article had in fact picked them up whilst he was there.

Have foud a couple of 5mm ones but so cheap makes you wonder whether they are any good LOL. Can't win. Might be worth a go for a couple of pound.

Hi Pete...that contact will almost certainly be Cookson Gold https://www.cooksongold.com/category_select.jsp?channel=uk&query=burrs. They stock concave burrs.

Checked them out, first stop. Only have smaller ones. Might have found another source though with burrs up to 10mm. That's huge LOL.
