cocobolo bowl

coccobolo bowl
one piece of a larger amount of exotic blanks. the bowl is 11x3 and finished with a wax finish. all comments welcome.

n absolutely stunning piece of wood....it must be difficult to find cocobola in that sort of size!
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

As I stated elsewhere Dennis, Cocobolo certainly has some nice grain nicely turned.

A very nice piece of wood and a nice bowl. Having said that, I think the foot could show a better shape. From the picture it almost looks like this is simply the tenon left on.

I got this and a lot more turning blanks as well as a load of yew from a gent in Manchester. yes I live in Hartlepool but was over there demoing at a club in Liverpool and staying in Manchester so called over before heading home. the other exotics were PUI, TAS BLACK WOOD, SONOKELING ROSEWOOD and others there was 16 blanks and 13 lumps of yew for £50.

that lump of cocobolo is worth 3 times that alone.

Think he got  this back in 83 and payed £18 for it.
