Textured Black Hollow Form
« on: November 24, 2019, 06:14:10 PM »
This is a hollow form, from sweet chestnut, which has been textured and painted with acrylic paint. about 9" high and 6" diameter. made in two parts. Also pic of work in progress.  Please excuse the pics, the form was given away before I had time to photo it properly. Feel free to comment or not.

Very oriental looking Roger. Actually got a ceramic one that looks almost identical shape. Like it a lot.

 Hi Roger,
Excellent piece of work I like everything about it you are very generous giving this away.

Very nice, could I ask what you textured it with?

Hi Doug
Thank you. I used a 2mm round burr in a Dremel, using a figure of 8 movement. It's difficult to keep to an exact 8 but nearly is good enough. I watched Nick Arnull do this in a demo many moons ago and have used it since. I then torched it, brushed it with a suede brush and then painted it.

Beautiful piece of work. I love the shape and the texturing is very pleasing - I imagine it took many hours of patient work. Whoever now possesses it is a lucky person :)

Very nice indeed. Like the colour.

I find that when texturing like this and sitting down that it become very relaxing.

That's as nice a piece as I've seen on the forum for quite some time. It gets my vote in many ways.

Thanks Les. Praise indeed!!! And thanks to everyone else who took time to comment. It does help. I don’t sell my work as turning has always been a hobby. If no one wants whatever I make, it goes into a box until there is a charity appeal or the likes. Might make a good string that. “Why do you feel you need to sell your work” or the likes
