Butterfly Box

Fresh off the lathe Oak and ABW the knob is white acrylic 6" tall X 4" wide Pyrography outlines and finished with airbrush paints before acrylic sander sealer and satin lacquer

Derek this appears to be nicely finished but I'm afraid I am with George on this one,not sure the lid works. I think for the shape of the pot, especially in view of the bead detail, the lid shape is wrong. I do however like the knob, that adds a touch of class.

I think I am with the others on this one though I don't mind the difference in timber. The lid looks like it does not belong, there isn't a natural flow in the design from base to lid.

Thank you all for the honest comments.

I have sat this piece next to the TV where I can see it since posting it. And now after looking at it, it is not the colour contrast but the shape and size that is bothering me so now have removed the lid but will keep it maybe for something more suitable (it probably sit in the MAYBE pile until needed or end up in the bin).
I quite often do this with pieces I have made.

I am inclined to agree that the lid is unnecessary but it does not offend me!  A nice piece.

See, it does not really need a lid, it sits nicely on its own. Sometimes less is more.
