Knarled Yew
« on: December 15, 2018, 08:29:11 AM »
Two pieces made from yew which I felled 17years ago I knew the tree from a sapling in my parents garden. The tree had been used as a linen line post so it was full of nails, wire and woodworm.
The bowl has still got the remains of nail just to the outside of the foot. The bowl has a split 3/4 across, so I inserted a butterfly of beech to hold it together. The Tazza was much easier to turn.

I'm loving the big butterfly holding the underside of the larger bowl together. An old trick but one not often used in today's turnings. Strange that it does not show through to the inner surface though.

And the Tazza will look great with some fruit in over Christmas.

Thank you for showing them.
