The seasons marching on
« on: July 14, 2018, 08:43:21 PM »
Well the Cherry Trees are now just about barren, but I've noticed a few Sloe's already turning purple, managed to snaffle a couple of Mulberries and even a blackberry today while walking the dogs

Some apples are already turning rosy, but likely to still be a few weeks before they are ripe enough to eat. Need to do a walk past the Damson Tree, see how that's doing as well.

The season is marching onwards.

One of my apple trees in the garden has already dropped its load due to the dry weather.         Or...... a third of the trees in the north orchard have had an unusually high June drop...That sounds better. ;D ;D ;D

Les,

Never thought of it like that. Re-read it and it does have a progressive rhythm in it. Probably the best poetry I've ever written - I think I'd better go lie down and recover.

Ha ha....I have never forgiven a literacy teacher from my junior school days...she was teaching poetry and asked us to write a short poem, one verse, which rhymed and scanned and summed up what you felt about the winter. I wrote, "my toes are froze and so's my nose". I got caned for being flippant....But I didn't know what flippant meant, so how could I have been?

It took me a long time to get back into poetry...think I found it about 30 verses in to the Ancient Mariner!

I write poetry sometimes, it is usually absolute rubbish but I quite enjoy the process.

I'm having to turn the air conditioning on in my workshop and then I have to put a smock on as it's too cold. ;D

My aircon is very complex. Involves opening the doors right out and then opening the windows.

Pete mine is a bit more sophisticated than that, I open the doors, then open the windows buuutt then I turn on a fan by the window that extracts rather than blows in. So I get an extractor as well as air circulation. I like to get good value for money.
