Latest collaborations.
« on: April 14, 2018, 11:02:37 AM »
These two we are hanging onto for Wisley, first one. riverbank, sold immediately but we need to make sure we have enough stock for Wisley as it is a 5 day show. OK. These are both in holly and are 210mm tall and 90mm at widest point for the magnolia and 90mm tall and wide for koi. The base for koi is an ongoing work as I want it to look like typical japanese lacquer, easier said than done LOL. Slightest defect shows up.
C&C welcome as always

Mo, your artwork is amazing, well done on all of it.

Pete, your turnings okay as well ;D ;D

As for the base, I use to use Japlac by International paints, but not seen it about for a long time. No idea what else to use to create the effect.

Stunning work Mo & Pete

I'm going to have to get my finger out if I'm to stand any chance of selling my stuff at Wisley  :)

All the best

Thanks guys.

Not to worry Ed. You're work is very different and just as good if not better. Mo and I are demonstrating there as well so will be away from you anyway LOL.

Wow, what a pair - the vessels I mean. Nice form and beautifully painted. Great job both of you. Malcolm.

Pete,
I had to visit a DIY Shed today, so i chose the old Homebase, now Bunnings.

While walking around I noticed the Rustolium have increased their range of unusual paints and one was Gloss Finish Furniture Paint, in Liquorice (Black).

Don't know how this stacks up against Japlac but it might be worth a try.

I also noticed that they do a Gold and Silver Finishing Wax - A much larger tub than the small jars we can buy for around £10, I'll certainly be giving these a go in the future.

Thanks Bryan, not sure where the neafrest home base is but I can check lout the Rustolium range on line. I did find some Japlac online, every colour except black in spray. Managed to get a really great, lacuered look on one piece but it highlights the slightest defect in the wood despite filling with car body filler first. Price we are asking for these things they have to be as close to perfect as possible.
