redgum off cut
« on: April 24, 2018, 08:29:59 AM »
Sometimes you need to go through your offcuts just in case :)  Found this little piece with some fiddle back.

I needed a diversion from a couple of lengthy projects that have kept me busy and away from many other things.

Redgum 5" or 12.5cm high with a girth of 4" or 10cm Antique Oil and buffed, plus some sanding :)

your comments most welcome.

Every time I see one of these that you do I wonder how long it takes to get the spiralling done to the level of finish you achieve. A great 'diversion'

Actually Pete, this is rather small and the Redgum easy to work with, plus I have done a few of these :)
So this one would have taken me around 10-12 hours all up, sometimes the actual layout can be as lengthy as the turning.

I'll never get the opportunity to hold one of your bowls, which is a shame as they look so interesting the physical feel must be part of the overall experience.

Well you never know they do get around. As to feel etc, your right if a would-be buyer can be encouraged to pick it up and hold for a while it really increases the likelihood of a sale.
