Couple of little ones
« on: April 17, 2018, 10:18:43 PM »
The need to have some more in a cheaper range dictates some that take less work so these little ones are the latest. Not sure if the moth should be on a base or not yet. Size  can be seen in comparison to the 50p piece.
C&C elcome as always

P.S. What looks like end grain tear out at the head of the koi is actually markings in the wood grain....honest LOL.

I like the idea of quality artwork being available at an affordable price. Good to see that Mo's attention to detail is just as strong in the smaller pieces.

Thanks Les and Ed. The cost is pretty much dictated to by the decorative work which takes the time. The smallest one is just 2" tall x 2 1/2" diameter whilst the 'bigger one is 2 1/2" x 4" diameter. Need tom have the sub £50 pieces for bread and butter sales at shows.

Very nice indeed. The other thing to consider is where potential customers will be putting the art work they buy. Nice to think that the big pieces will be displayed in the south wing of a huge house in the long gallery, but realistically we are looking at small houses ,so to make art the size of which would fit in small houses is the sensible way to go. Thankfully I manage to display all of the original paintings that I have collected on the wall of the main staircase in my house (it is the only staircase so it must be the main one ;) )

Thank you.
Agree John. Great to make things that we like and that other turners appreciate but at the end of the day we are making to sell to the public so eed to take into account what is suitable and what they like.

Pete & Mo these are splendid. Very well done.

Non Disbutandem!
The Prof and his current cycling companion Mme. Malaprop couldn't argue about these - but if they had been decorated in edelweiss they would probably have fallen off in ecstasy.

Thank you Professor and of course Mme Malaprop. I will of course pass on the idea of edelweiss to the house illustrator for consideration.
