3MT to straight shaft adaptor required
« on: February 23, 2018, 02:20:27 PM »
Does anyone know a supplier of such a beast, I have scoured the internet but to no avail. I wish to fit a buffing wheel pigtail to my lathe which has 3MT head stock so looking from the 3MT to about a 3/4" shaft, various other pigtails sizes available.

Lazarus can't you hold the pigtail in a chuck? or make a sleeve? in wood or pewter perhaps?

Or something like THIS which the end can be drilled and then a second hole st right angles so a brub screw can grip the shaft of the pigtail it is also drilled so a draw bar can be fitted not sure if you can get a larger end as this one is only 7/8" either that or get the pigtail shaft turned down.

Hi
The collet option you would need a draw bolt to tighten or close the collet .
Why not use a Jacobs Chuck with a standard pig tail ?
Try the polishing shop cannock they have website or axminster tools?

The problem I have with a pigtail in a chuck is the arbor coming loose in the MT fitting, I haven't tried this on the VB but it was an issue in my Axminster M900 so I was trying to prevent this. Axminster do MT1 & MT2 with a pigtail machined so I may have to go for this with an adaptor. Many thanks for the interest.
