« on: March 09, 2018, 08:43:57 PM »
Hi have any members any idea what i could use use to inlay rings on a project with red white and blue ( a present for a friend who likes mod gear hence the colours i need to use)  i have heard some where you can colour miliput, does this work. can you get crushed stone in these colours, or is there any other product i could use. was thinking of dying rings between between burnt rings  on a light coloured wood but not sure how white dye would look. thanks in advance i am not very experienced in inlaying

White dying of wood is just about impossible, but you can achieve white grain by bleaching the whole piece, then dying red and blue with spirit stains to achieve the coloured rings and a strong scorch line between each colour would certainly help to reduce bleeding of one colour into another.

Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

It all depends on how big the rings need to be I have used acrylic sheet stuck together on a small scale turned idea
