Mine always snap before they get blunt, and I know why that is: I use a small bandsaw, where the radius of the wheels puts a lot of stress on the blades. I haven't done it yet, but I am considering getting them re-welded.
All bandsaw blades will eventually snap, as the material gets tired out running around the wheels. Bigger wheels = less stress = longer lifetime.
There's nothing in the book that says you cannot resharpen a bandsaw blade, but at the same time you cannot cheat physics, either.

Agree with John ( BHT ).....I have been sharpening mine & resetting the teeth to stop binding ( heat/ temper ) for the last
10 years ... yes they are sharp.

My first visit here and first reply - so hello.

Yes bin them - I stand on mine to bend the metal - keeps my hands out of the way and they don't spring back open.

Maybe I'm very heavy!   :)

There must come a point even if you sharpen them that they will need to be disposed of which I think is the topic of this whole thread so you must have to buy new at some stage or do you use other peoples hand me downs ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

George that's why I haven't produced as much as you this week, it takes a long time to walk to Pete's house when it is my turn to have the blade. ;D ;D ;D
