myford maestro

I have been using a Myford Maestro lathe for many years but recently it has developed an electrical fault. the lathe will stop/start at random, doing this once, twice or more times, then work normally before the problem starts again. This can occur whether a cut is being made or not. It has been suggested that it is caused by dust getting into the electrics. However,I have had it stripped down and electrically checked against Myford circuitry. I am at a loss to know what is the cause and the remedy to overcome. Clearly it must be a dodgy electrical component but which one?.

Hi Ron, Have a look at the NVR Switch if that is full of dust it could be that's the problem.

Ron it could be something so simple. I suggest you check that there are no breaks in the cable, a continuity test will sort that out. The other thing is the wiring in the plug. Might be worth trying it in a different socket and see what hppens.
