Olive Ash 300mm x 130mm I've name this piece Negative due to it's black band.

Look forward to your comments.

All the best

Ed

PS the line down the centre is the lighting  :)

these are really nice ed but i am rather curious as to what the slightly darker bands are on the belly of the vases as they seem to be on the same place on each one. was it held in a steady whilst hollowing?

there's only one hollow form the dark band is from how the black was applied.

Ed

I really like the form and the dark central band  to my eyes is really effective, whether its a vase or a cocktail shaker .

I would be interested to know how you did the darkening, was it using iron/acid mix or other?

There is a slight difference between the top and bottom edges of the band as there is a narrow natural line below the top margin but not replicated at the lower edge. I prefer the top edge as it highlight s the band.

Thanks for showing

Phil

The black band has what looks like sanding marks or is it that the colour was aplied while it was spinning and that is what has left the lines.

Thank you for your comments John, Phil & George

In answer to your questions

John it is hollowed

Phil it's been done with a carpenters pencil

George the lines are from the shading done by using the pencil.

All the best

I like the form of this piece and the band is the right proportions to the rest I was surprised at how large it is as the photo does not show this.

I also commented on the lines so Ed take 1oo lines "I must not press so hard" ;D ;D ;D
