Ash canker cross grain N/E pot
« on: December 05, 2016, 05:05:01 PM »
This is the follow-up to the piece that I posted a picture of yesterday. Made from the same piece of timber, but cut cross-grain rather than end grain. An absolute pig to work as there was a manky, rotten void in the middle of the chucking-tenon, which meant that the pot ended up a couple of centimeters shorter than it might otherwise have been. None-the-less, it's markings are amazing.

As I recall, it's 15cm diameter and about 18cm high (overall).

C&C always welcome....Les
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

Cracking piece again Les

This is where colour should not be added to a piece of wood so it came in to the right hands to show of the natural beauty of the wood.

Amazing that one piece of wood should provide two such different colouring effect.
