Hello Owen, and welcome to the AWGB forum. You show a remarkable degree of confidence in your tool handling for one so young. As you progress through this craft, you will discover many new techniques which will help you to achieve finer shapes and better finishes. What is important for now, is that you clearly enjoy what you are doing.
I was wondering.....are you near enough to a woodturning club to be able to visit them regularly? They have much to offer and I'm sure that you'd benefit from attending one.

Keep at it, Owen, you obviously have the basic skills.
Les
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

Well done Owen and welcome to the AWGB forum.

I would also agree with Les by saying if you have a woodturning club near you get your parents to take you along you will learn new skills and then will be able to advance your woodturning.

You clearly look to be enjoying your woodturning so keep safe and have fun.

Ed

Well done Owen and keep practicing. I don't know if you are already an AWGB member but if you aren't, did you know you can join for free as a junior member and take advantage of the training courses too! Details are on the AWGB website.

Thank you everyone for the nice comments, I will look into local wood turning clubs, but I'm not sure if there are any.

Thanks for the warm welcome

Owen

It's great to see someone young turning and with what appears to be obvious talent. Where are you based?  If you go here you will see a list of the clubs affiliated to the AWGB, any one of which would welcome a young turner with open arms.

Hi Owen. Not sure where in west Wales you live but there is a club in Pembrokeshire, another in Llanelli and another in Alltwen, north of Swansea. I live on Gower, Swansea west, and you are welcome to call and visit whenever you wish. Hope that helps. Glad to see you are taking up the craft and developing your skills. Keep turning. Malcolm.
