I wonder who did the Geordie-to-Yank translation ;D
During an interview for a mag article he once told me a tale of demonstrating to a gathering of cowboys in 10 gallon titfers. During the turning a remarkable grain pattern was slowly exposed and he stopped the lathe to show the crowd with the words 'Look at that grain, ee but it's dead bonny'.
At the end of the demo he invited questions from the audience and the first one was
'"Say Jimmy, Can you just explain how that piece of lumber resembles a dead body?"
I'm still giggling

Hi Andy, I used to like watching Jimmy demonstrate he was very entertaining.I remember him doing  an all day demo at our club (Burcot Woodturners) He turned one of his signature pieces"The Winged Box" he gave this to the Club for our Christmas Raffle.I took the piece home to sand and finish my wife did not like it.I have never won anything in the Monthly raffle or the Christmas one guess what I won that Jimmy Clews piece and I love it.Regards John
