Aspire
« on: April 24, 2016, 04:57:05 PM »

Hope that some of you might remember last years Septembers post when I bought Tony some Masur Birch .....This is the Red H/F.
which I have been working with for a few weeks..... The H/F is on a burnt and painted surface Oak Burr.
As Always Tony Turned The H/F and Cast The Leaves From Pewter painted by me with acrylics... The H/F is Red Spirit Stain
and the base is enhanced with Gilders Paste..... was trying to create a look of Heat and Fire
As Always Your Comments Are Most Welcome
  Kind Regards Di & Tony

I like the base and Hollow form but I am not keen on the leaves I think it would probably be better without them

Really like most of this.  The base is gorgeous.....just enough treatment to highlight its features and show it off to its best.  The bowl looks great too but for me it feels kind or cramped by the leaves on top....it may be the fact that we only have a 2 dimensional view of it but I feel I want to see more of the bowl and the leaves are getting in the way.  They're also making it feel heavy, weighing it down.

I think another part of it is that the leaves perhaps feel too big and therefore too dominant.  I like the idea and the execution is first class but for me the leaves wold be better if they were more discrete, leaving the bowl to dominate.

Tony, George,

I looked at this all last evening, I really like it but I see in it something that is just not there.

I see a fungus growing out of the dead wood or a turned up muddy area. The shape and colour of the form cause it, the red is sort of like a Fly Algaric, even though I can see there is no stem (or white dots).

Yeah I know, I'm weird!

Another great piece Tony & Di,the form and colour work really well together, incuding the leaves,I`m with Brian on this, probably both had to much acid as teenagers though, but the imagination of a person helps to see tho most in a piece, that`s what I love about your works, sets the imagination off on a journey, cheers,

Eric.

Thank You Very Much...... Bryan ...... and ......Eric

In the past as you know we have done quite a few themed Pieces ... one of them  we kept was Ice Field..( because we liked it :)  :)
Had been wanting to do a complete opposite Fire / Heat for some time but do now, realise this piece does not quite gel.

Bryan... Had not looked or  thought of it from that point of view... very interesting and thought provoking...

Eric... If it was an interesting journey then it was well worth taking

  Very Much Appreciated
 Kind Regards
 Di & Tony

Hi Di & Tony,

I really like the bowl and the base, I think they really look good together. I like the leaves too, in "my" eye though, I personally think they look slightly large for sitting on the bowl, they kind of distract you from the beauty of the bowl, perhaps if they were slightly smaller they would gel better (the one on the base looks fine). This is totally my own personal view though as I still think this is a really nice piece.

Kind Regards

Gary
