Old Bowl
« on: April 18, 2016, 07:57:35 PM »

Not posted any joint ventures lately ... mainly because I haven't done any  :).....This Piece was Turned as always by Tony
I started the decorative process about 6 months ago and forgot about it then found it unfinished a few days ago.... its turned
from Apple and had Stucco Texture paste applied and different colours/ shades of Gilders Paste to make it look aged.
As Always Comments Are Most Welcome
   Kind Regards
   Di & Tony

I'm quite drawn to this piece Di & Tony, the colours and texture are very striking. It almost looks like a 300 year old piece of booty from a pirates treasure chest.  A very tactile piece no doubt. Very well done.

Best Regards

Gary

Think this is one of those pieces I would need to see in the flesh to fully appreiate as half the attraction seems to be in the tactile quality of it. Overall I like the idea though.

looking at the grain on the inside i think it would of been just as nice in its natural clothes,
why do i feel the need to turn a block of wood into shavings?

   Thank You George ...... I think  :) :)

Thanks Pete..... Yes it is quite tactile and its been as always with these type of pieces a good learning curve..... as in reactions or not
with gilding paste and texturing paste.... and had fun doing it.

Thanks Steve ..... Tony gave me this bowl because it was very Tatty on the outside..... I`m only given very rough pieces to play
with  :) not allowed nor would I use good wood ...Honest :) :) :)

Thanks for the comments Guys and for Viewing
   Kind Regards Di & Tony

I am sorry but this isn't for me. I am not a fan of the shape, and not of the surface, either.

I've got absolutely no problem with that at all, after all I also make pieces that split the opinions. BTW, marmite really is evil! The smell alone makes me want to throw up. And your bowl is not getting me anywhere near that.

Tony,

not sure I really like the shape but the texturing and guiding effect is clever. Looking at it, have you thought about an application of Verdigris wax in places, just to draw the brightness down a bit?
