Seminar Inspiration
« on: August 19, 2011, 07:50:14 PM »
Hi All
Following the seminar, and after watching Jan Marot and Les Thorne demonstrate, this piece is a take on both demonstrations. The shape from Jan and the texturing from Les. Its made of Ash, textured with a dremel and coloured with mat black car paint and purple spirit stain. Its about 4" high and2" diameter. Before anyone mentions it, yes, I have put the rim on the wrong end, but hey ho, thats life. Feel free to lambast.

Hi Roger, an excellent and sweet little box, you've learnt well and will know to get the rim right next time.

Les is remarkable for his texturing an colouring and fun to watch ..   :D ..  great lad.

A piece well done.  Cheers.         David

Nice box Roger, I'm also inspired and it's on my list for next week's club competition - an apple or pear shaped box.

Cheers Dave

Hello Roger,
I like the look of this and I've got to try to make one myself before the next club night. What do you mean though about the rim being on the wrong end?

Hi Barry and all.
Firstly, thanks for the comments, much appreciated. When I make boxes, which is seldom, I always put the spiggot for the lid, on the base. However this time i choose the wrong end of the spiggot to part the box in two. Hence the spiggot is on the lid, and to me it just does not look quite right. I get a lot of senior moments just lately!!!!!

Hi Roger
Like the box very much, the black and purple go very well together and the shape is very pleasing.
Don`t forget next months club competition is a lidded box!!

Ken
