So you think you need all those tools
« on: September 17, 2015, 09:04:32 AM »
Ok I agree it is a lot easier with power and a good set of tools, but look how it is done with knowledge, skill and the most basic of tools.

A freind of mine posted this on Twitter, Shawo Village China, turning bowls. Notice how the elderly gent is using a metric rule not imperial, he got the memo  ;D ;D

Brilliant video Mark. An unusual type of lathe too. However I don't think that was filmed in China as the old guy is clearly called Ron according to his hat ;D

There's a similar video on youtube about a guy who uses a small lathe driven with one hand, and using his feet to guide a skew chisel (the only tool he uses) to do spindle turning. He makes chair legs, chess figures and all sorts. including captured rings.

Interesting video. If I get my act together I will be covering this in a series for the magazine on the subject.

A couple of fantastic videos.
As for turning with your feet I can't imagine the backache.
