London Plane

Playing with a piece of this and following Carl Jacobsons tutorial decided to make it more oblong and a bit of detail on the top - just a light sanding and rubdown with Danish Oil

Hi George - cut before turning it - nearly broke my fingers forgetting the sand the corners with the lathe stopped rule!

i wish i'd kept that bit now fran, it did come up nice didn't it.

I agree with George about cutting afterwards. But if this is the size of the timber to start, bits of sacrificial scrap wood (cheap pine) could be glued to the edhes to square it up first.

But you've done well, for such a chunky shape, it looks right.

it was the size to begin with as he's been round and taken two carfulls of timber from me as i've realised that i'll never get round to turning most of it and i didn't want it to go up in smoke...
