A Bit Of Marbling
« on: January 19, 2015, 07:36:58 PM »
Just after Christmas I decided to have another attempt at Marbling. Tony`s got quite a bit of Sycamore and Maple which as no
character and is very dirty looking, so we have used the wood for marbling, ..... no good for anything else.
As Always Tony turned the pieces .... and cast and turned the pewter.... I marbled them.
The Globe and Egg 7" in high ........ As always your comments are welcome

Ah yes, marbling.....we all have heard how to do it, and many of us will have tried, in which case many of us will know full well that there's a heck of a lot more skill involved in stirring those marbling inks than a novice would ever conceive of. I do believe that this is what they call 'Result'.

Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

Well done you two, once again a very fine end product. Di I particularly like the piece on the left in the middle picture as "the grain" continues through each level.
Beautiful work.

Thank You John much appreciated as always..... The boxes were a bit of a problem holding the three sections
     together while marbling.

Always know I am in for a treat when your name appears in the gallery and today is no exception. The top piece in particular is fabulous.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

One of our club members does a bit of marbling from time to time. Always an interesting effect. You've used a more limited pallet than he does which gives a more defined finish.

I did buy a set to have a go but never got around to trying it, hopefully you will have inspired me to finally get it out and have a go.
