Woodturner is watching you
« on: February 08, 2011, 07:10:20 PM »
Hi all,
a very new object from me:

In German the title is "Augen-Blicke" (moments), what is a word-composition from the two elements you can see at my object: Augen (eyes)- Blicke (sights). This object is 35x30x10cm. The used woods: box elder, padouk and african blackwood. Connected by stainless steel. All parts are turned, nothing carved. Do you have another name for this object in English ?
Thanks for your comments.
Jo

Hi Jo, Welcome back. As always a wonderful piece of turning it never ceases to amaze me where you get your ideas from.
I think I would find it difficult to have a nap in the chair with "The Eye" watching me. Spooky. Regards John :o :o

Well done Jo, Eye like what you've done,  COOL,  Eye Ball.  Glad to see you back, hope you're now dry and mopped up and no damage after the flood.

Hi Jo,

A beautifully executed piece of work, how about calling it Cyclops.

Cheers Martin.

Hi all,
thanks for your agreements and very interesting suggestions !
As you mentioned it is my requirement to bring some dynamic in my objects.
I think in this case it was successfully.
A additional information: You can change the mien by swiveling the eye.
That's very interesting.
Martin: Good idea, Cyclops, but this is already the name of another piece from me, sorry.

Regards  Jo

Hi all,
thanks for your creative titles. I think about the best one.
A modification of my "Eye".

Hi Jo,
For me I like the modification better than the first piece.
The first one had the effect of a glaring/mischievous looking eye - this one is more subtle and has a softer look.

Ken
