The side adjusters do not seem to do all that much, they tighten it up but don't stop it moving. Maybe I have a weird shaped head.

I judge by mine the side screws just tighten to hold the visor from swinging open or to lock the visor up when opened, that's how I've found that the many visors and welding masks have worked, on tightening the headband, then we more than likely worn over a cap, offered some comfort, but still could pinch the forehead over time.

I found with my Airpro that when I tighten the knob at the back, I have to tighten to size, push the knob in then give it another half-a-turn to lock.

I bought a JSP system on Ebay a year or so ago. The best system undoubtedly is from 3M but that is expensive, even for those of us who used to work for them, I tried the Trend system and found the moving forward when you tilt your head to be a problem. The JSP system has the battery separate and you can clip it onto your belt at the back or put it in your pocket. Thus the weight is not in the helmet. To me it is the best compromise . Malcolm.

Looked at the JSP AirCap, but couldn't afford it.

Airshield being delivered to day, needs 24 hours conditioning charge, so I'll try it tomorrow.

Had the AirPro awhile  now and have used for turning sessions of about 1 hour at a time max.  So far so good. Slight discomfort the first time, but so got used to it. Still playing around with it to get the perfect fit. Each time I put it on and make make small adjustments it just gets more comfortable. The most important thing is, I'm not coughing after a turning session. That in itself has got to be worth the purchase price.

Helps that the nose isn't bunged up as well  :)
I am thinking of seizing the side adjusters to stop the tipping.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Hi Derek....I saw an Airshield Pro on eBay the other day, so have bought it. It's virtually brand-new and comes with the ear defenders. Got it for £150 including postage. Arrived a couple of days ago and think it's blinking wondrful.

Have you had the tipping problem?

Not noticed it at all. I'm particularly prone to neck/head aches after tearing the ligaments in my neck several weeks ago, so i was a bit concerned about the weight of it, so I've been wearing it only during heavy sanding of a big platter, but it didn't give any problems at all other than the headband slackens off each time that I remove the helmet. I'll investigate why it does that tomorrow!

Once you've tightened the knob on the headband, push it in until it clicks, also make sure the two knobs on either side of the visor are tight.

Yeah....already sussed that, but each time I take it off, it clicks back open. No big deal, but worth having a look at.
