well, home again,I spent an hour and three quarters in surgery last night having micro surgery joining the main nerve for the back of my finger and sowing up an artery I ruptured with the gauge, they did a nerve block instead of knocking me out,so I got a running commentary on how things were proceeding, the artery went well, the nerve we`ll have to wait and see, surgeon said it`ll take up to 2yrs for the nerve to grow back, when its got over having the hump at being cut, even then it might say boll---s and only go halfway,so now I have to sit about and do nothing at all, till it heals,so frustrating, cheers,

Eric.

Eric,

I'm not good with frustration either, I hope you are the sort of person who is a fast healer.

All sympathy and respect to you, Eric. I'm in a similar position to you, in that a recent injury had stopped me from turning for a while and it's been really strange, not being able to get into the workshop to relax the stress after a working day. However, my physiotherapist has now instructed me to find reasonable light tasks that involve limited movement for a period of an hour or so, a few times a day. So it's spinning tops, pendants and miniature decorative bird-houses for me for a while.

Get well soon...keep safe!

Les

Eric sorry to hear of your accident, I hope you recover very soon and very well. Now if I was a real b*****d as the H&S rep I would spout off about what you did wrong.... :D but you already told us so take comfort in the knowledge that many people have learnt a lesson here............just that your lesson hurt. ;) and ours didn't.
Hope you are back to it soon.

latest news, won`t be driving for at least 2 weeks while the nerve path knits together, but the dressings are off and I can see they`ve cut the palm of my hand open and the side of my middle finger to get to the nerve and the artery,I have 11 stitches on the outside and lots inside, they did tell me but I`ve forgotten how many there were, have posted a pic showing consequences of a slip that caused so much damage inside, and the sausage fingers as my boy has called them haha, and the wound, will be having physiotherapy for awhile to get the index and middle finger moving again, cheers,Eric.

That's one neat job they'd done, would never known, but for swelling and the incision, had to been the best Surgeon.

Take care and follow Orders ...   ;) ..

Very Best Wishes.  David

Glad you are on the mend Eric, 2 weeks isn't too bad is it? A while back I had a crush injury to my left in dex finger which resulted in the tendon snapping, that was 3 months recuperation, I didn't believe  them at the time as I am a very quick healer( I suppose we all have to be when we work with sharp tools) but it really was 3 months before I could get back to work. I have never been squeamish, a bit of blood or guts never bothered me at all but when the nurse "peeled" my healed finger I had to look the other way...........be warned!! ;D ;D
