Any ideas?
« on: November 17, 2013, 08:38:16 PM »
This piece is unfinished looking for ideas, the coins are 1st century Roman and the bowl is a Saxon hanging bowl. We are thinking of a plinth abstract but also realism.

hi david and martin
from a selling point of view i agree with you both, a simple plinth in wood or slate , would be the best way to go
but we are doing these purley for fun and to stretch our imagination, we are trying to make the plinth a part of
the sculpture and make it more interesting by bringing in more turning and more elements to create something
different. our only problem is are we bordering on naff , because getting the balance right is very difficult.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      thank you both for your comments
                                                 much appreciated  regards tony

You say it is a ;'hanging bowl' so perhaps some sort of taller piece for it to hang from and the coins to spill out? You could have it hanging in it's normal position with the coins tumbling through one of the holes, by two of the rings or one of them.

Hi Tony,
how about having it on some straw with some poking out of the holes to look like grass has grown through it and died with the coins spilling out as you have it?
Or......just sell the Roman coins and b****r off to the Bahamas and just turn in the sun :D

Completely impractical idea but I see it as half excavated from a hole in the ground. No idea how you'd reproduce that though.

My very thoughts as well, now maybe with time that support has collapsed, with that and the bowl striking the ground/surface causing the coins to spill out.
