Wood ID needed please
« on: August 01, 2013, 10:08:45 PM »
Just done this goblet for stock from some wood I got in a batch. I assume it is exotic, don't use them much, so I haven't a clue what it is. Any info welcome please

Thanks

Looks like Olive to me.....but I am sure there are others out there better able to judge than me and am ready to be corrected.

Thanks Kevin and Andy, now you mention it I think you're right. Been a long time since I turned any so didn't recognise it. Usually use indigenous or reclaimed woods.

Sorted on it's Olive ... Now .. The flow of the cup is spot on with the grain, left of 2nd picture, not only there, but the sweep of the whole form, from rim down through the stem and into the foot are perfect, nicely finished as well.
