Two metal pens

Had a good day and made two metal pens both for me one in aluminium and one in brass finished with Autosol from Halfords enjoy

Thanks for posting these Woody, these look like Men's pens, built to last in a Worksop!  A great idea, I have never seen  pens made from metal before - I guess you come from an engineering background.

No John on wood lathe using scrappers
Haggy I am a retired milk man although I did teach myself some engineering skills for about 10 years I had a metal workshop as well as a wood workshop

I thought I'd signed into a wrong forum for a mimute ..  Metal .... all be it non-ferrous .. Heavy Duty Men's Pens to quote Haggy, spot on .. Woody you never fail to surprise us, well done, they are keepers.

Now I don't do pens (have I said that before?).

But a WiP on making one of these would be really interesting - please.

They are quite easy to make with a sharp scrapper which you will have to sharpen quite often do everything in the normal manner I dont have any engineering machines now so I drill the blanks out on the wood lathe and glue the tube in place square of the ends  fit them on the mandrel or between centers with a fixed center in the headstock and away you go it may take a little while to find the sweet spot to get a good cut dont go to hard or you will get a lot of vibration sand with I use J flex but emery cloth wet n dry your choice really them I buff them om a polishing wheel warning it will go black the polishing wheel that is but I'm sure T cut would do the job then I polish with Autosol from Halfords  Job done I hope I havent left anything out  LOL
