Andy

an interesting marquette, it certainly has some foundation,  :) to build on.

I like the concept and it will be good to see where you take it.

Andy,

I love the idea behind this. The effect you've created really is reminiscent of a stone wall especially on the pot section.

I'm not so sure about the lid, it has the carving going all the way through, and I would not see that holding together in reality as such a thin section. If it was thicker, lumpy, uneven, or some-such it might carry it a little better in my eye.

As for the bones in a hand, that's maybe a different vision but it still does not fit with the blue, and I really like the colour effect you've created.

I'd really like to see this in shades of gloss grey simulating a flint wall.

Can I ask what sort of tool you use to do your carving please.
Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!

The inspirations are just that; a leaping off point. The intention was not to represent either the bones or the stones of the wall but to use the sense of the interconnected to create a pattern and visual texture. Also the reason the colours are non-representative of either of the origins. If anything the further away the better.

As for the lid...I see your point, but a thicker lid would have made a) the pot feel unbalanced, and the piercing very difficult. It's actually quite strong enough for what it is - a purely decorative object. However...I'm not convinced about the form of the lid and will be working on a different tack for the next version.

Tools...woodart products micro drive with the cutters in the attached picture. (And before anybody asks...you can't buy them now....old craft supplies product...), also pyro machine obv.

I went on a rif off this idea today and did a slightly different Marquette. Will post in gallery.
