multistar duplex chuck
« on: June 03, 2013, 08:26:31 PM »
Has anybody got access to some clear instructions so I could set up a multistar duplex chuck in expansion mode safely. I seem to have worked out how to use the system in compression mode., regards roy wathen

The two rings are for expansion mode only. Leave them out for compression mode.
I will try to scan some of the manual.

Very interesting, I was given one of these chucks by a turner who had'nt used it for years and couldn't remember how it worked. It's nice to see that I seem to have put the bits together correctly. In have used it on a few occastions and have often mused on the validity of a demonstration utilising equipment from yesteryear rather than one utilising the most modern equipment!

Hi
Many years after this post I found myself the proud (?) owner of a Multistar chuck and 5 jaws. Once you get the hang of it yes it possible to put it all together but what a nightmare. So glad Scroll chuck exist.

In the same vein

I have an old PCC2000 chuck (the old Craft Supplies (UK) chuck. I have everything except the backplate with the thread for the lathe headstock. I did have one an old 3/4" x 16 but gave it to someone that needed it.

Does anyone have an old PCC 2000 chuck or a spare backplate (any useful thread) or does anyone with a PCC 2000 want a complete spare set of everything.
Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!

Like most things these were great at the time. Having said that I still have a multistar and do use it on very rare occasions

I've just got an email via ebay as I was selling said chuck asking if I had any instructions - I haven't, any idea where I can get some printable ones as he seems nice enough but totally lost with it. It came with an old lathe he was given?
