First Bowl!

OK, its not perfect, but I don't care  ;D
At least I now know the lathe is capable of more than just trying to kill the cat and making random shavings!

Well done

That is a good bowl for starters, i know a few who could not turn a bowl as good yours.

A side view photo would help to see the shape.

I still remember my first finished piece and I'm sure yours is better. It's a good feeling when you first make an actual object from a blank. May there be many more...well done...

Hi
I wished my first bowl was as good as this one.
Like Phil I know a few turners who could not produce one as good as this after several years!!!

What can I say that hasn't already been said, ahh! I know. Now you have made one be prepared to spend all your spare time and all your spare money for the rest of your life just enjoying yourself in an all consuming hobby. You are now doomed to spend every waking hour thinking about and designing new pieces. You will put more petrol in your car to go and look at some wood than you will on holiday, and talking of holidays, these will now only be taken inbetween club nights and preferably near to a timber yard or craft shop............. Or is this only me?
Nice bowl though.
John

Hi John,

That is one very nice first bowl, nothing like your 1st, well done, thank you for sharing, and the more you make the better they get, as you understand more, what it takes to work with each one you make, for all the ups and the better it gets, as John has commented, it's all down hill now when it comes to turning.. it's not only you John..
