45 degree Spindle Gouge

Have I missed something in the development of turning tools?

Here we have (advertised on eBay) a 45 degree Spindle Gouge

Whilst in poor taste, I did wonder when I read it was the chaps widow who was selling it, if it had been the mother of all dig ins that had done for the gouge & him.

Hopefully not.

Cheers.

these were sold by bcwa (Robert Chapman) and can be seen in his book "woodturning a fresh approach"
I’ve never used one but the author used to use them in his deep N/Edge bowls- I say used to as I believe he is no longer selling tools or woodturning

George,

thank you for the information. I've certainly never seen one advertised so no idea how long ago it may have been on the market. Also not sure I'd like to have a go at turning with it the overhang from the tool centre-line seems a long way out.

It'll be interesting to watch the sale, anyone who does bid must know what it is and how to use it.
