Hi Tim

You will need the long grind jig. You will also have to sharpen the tool in two parts moving the jig from the right hand side of the belt to do the clockwise twist then slide the jig along the bar to the left hand side of the belt to do the anti clockwise twist.

Hi Tim,
To put a long grind on your chisels, you don't need to buy any more equipment, just adjust the knuckle angle of the jig. These jigs are from Tormek, who have an excellent explanation of their use in this PDF file, showing how changing the length of protrusion and the angle will change the edge profile.

All you need is an allen key. Basically the wider the angle of the knucke, the longer the grind. Hope that helps.

Tim did you manage to find the setting? I am thinking of buying one, however replicating the grind is essential if the tool is to de used as designed, so I don't want to purchase one until I know I am able to reproduce the original bevel. Ellsworth’s DVD " The Ellsworth Signature Gouge" explains the design principles together with faults that can occur & how to correct them and a demonstration of how to use the Ellsworth Jig. I suppose in the absence of setting it’s a case of working it out for oneself. I have Pro Edge, a Tormek, and a Grinder, so have enough kit, just need the expertise!

The old maxim is true, "If all else fails read the instructions" there is setting for a Ellsworth grind on a Tormac:- JS 6, P75, Hole A  :)
