Looks pretty good though personally I would have inscribed a defining line between the stained section on the edge and the natural coloured wood. Makes a big difference,

Pete

I assume that you mounted this using the recess on the bottom? Perhaps not the best way with burr as it can be very unpredictable and splinter / shatter unexpectedly. If you do mount this way then perhaps make a feature of it with some inscribed lines, texturing wouldn't work on oak burr, and perhaps cut the base back a bit so the recess became part of a small foot it can stop the recess looking like just a mounting recess.
Something like this?

Thx for those comments-I was a bit unsure about mounting, was concerned that faceplate screws might go through into central area. Like the idea of making a feature of the recess. :)

Thx, Mike
don't know how I posted 2 sets of pics-don't seem to be able to remove 1 set.

   ...  Don't know which we like best Mike.... The 1st one seems to have more colour and is brighter,
        or this one which isn't quite as bright.... but the definition lines  giving more  points of interest;
         Think this one is down to your personal choice
          Kind Regards Tony di

Hi Mike,
I like this better now that the yellow staining has been removed and the two defining groves added.
I think one more defining grove would be beneficial before the stained area.
Regards
Ken

  Mike we are not fans of the colour Yellow but from our experience when using yellow stains before  or after other
  coloured stains it can enhance and also change them a great deal. When doing marbling we use a lot of yellow
  but you don't see it.
 Kind Regards
