Hi Eric
that time of night patrolling is rich pickings for drink drivers, also your demographics are the highest proportion of the population for drink driving in the UK there is no power to stop check purely for drink driving, you either need a moving road traffic offence or concern due to driving, IE the vehicle is swerving around.
Seventh,,,, at times being stopped can make us feel annoyed especial when we know we are law abiding, but once you have been to a few road deaths including that of children due to drink driving you come to understand it is not boredom just part of protecting road users.
Apologies I will get off of my soap box in a minute but just a few stats for you.
Government statistic show that around
1700 people are killed on UK roads every year
21,000 seriously injured, this includes amputations and life changing injuries
192,000 reported road casualties inclusive
over
1,000,000 in the last ten years
over the last 10 years
7000 people have died in road traffic accidents directly attributed to drink driving
The over 45's is by far the largest demographic group to drink drive.
--------------
Around
550 people are
murdered each year in the UK
Around
1700 killed on the roads with
700 killed directly due to drink driving.
So you are over twice as likely being killed on the roads than being murdered, more likely being killed by a drink driver than being murdered.
You are
38 times more likely to be seriously injured with life changing results than being murdered.
