Title: Flower arranger's trophy
Post by: oldfern on March 21, 2021, 11:18:36 AM
Another trophy, this time in memory of a lady who was a flower arranger.
The main trophy is cherry, with a pau amarillo stamen, designed around the shape of a calla lily.
It rests on a stand made from burr oak, mainly to provide a flat surface for annual winners' plaques to be fixed. The daughter of the lady who commissioned the trophy had mentioned that she loved burrs and natural wood forms, often using them in her arrangements.
Inscriptions are pyrographed on. The cup is 5 x 12".

I think that is a beautiful piece of work. I'm sure your client will be very happy with it and I'm sure you are too. Well done :)

I do like the way you have interpreted the Calla Lilly.

Do I take it the small button on the back of the stand is the award holders name?

The small "button" is a sycamore disc, pyrographed with the 2019 winner's name. The idea was that I would turn and pyrograph a disc each year, but obviously there was no show in 2020, and probably won't be one in 2021.
