My wife bought me a chopping board for Xmas from Aldi's.
I chopped it up into squares and made some donut shaped bits.
Mounted them on a mandrel and made a box/lidded bowl/urn.
I gave it 8 or 9 coats of superglue, I am waiting for some micromesh pads to give it its final polish and get rid of the small ridges in the glue.
Overall I am pleased - a 6" box with a 2" engineering chuck - it can be done.

Hi Fester.
Before you drop off the page.. It's nice you should get a comment.. We all started somewhere.. Good use of the board, most anything will turn we're told.. one time there were articles on turning paper.
You've done well with the material at hand, may lack detail, but idea was in the form, and detail comes with time and practise.. there's many good videos about form.. even Steve's woodturner21 for inspiration. Have a hunt round.
Will take most of the marks off and give better surface for a wax or oil once able to sand.. superglue is not the easiest on large pieces and 8/9 coats, yes, ok for pens..
Will watch as you progess. Do hope you're continuing. Hard critical lot we turners'.. ;D ..

I see this was posted in February, don't know how I missed it. I like what you've done with this bread board. It would be good to see some more photos of the finished item (you mentioned you were awaiting materials to finish it). I like the shape a lot :)
