Title: Open segmented bowl
Post by: malcy on February 19, 2021, 11:00:30 AM
This bowl is 300mm diameter by 120mm high and has over 2000 segments of holly, wenge, yellow heart and red heart. Took about 40 hours to make. Design is from Tom Lohman.

As usually I admire the skill and patience in making this. Looks really good but I couldn't cope with the measuring etc needed. Beautiful work and love the  basket effect.

That is excellent loads of skill and accuracy needed.

Very impressive piece. I’ve seen several of these type of bowls in a wood gallery somewhere but the open areas were quite a bit bigger. They were fairly expensive but given the number of hours needed to make I wonder if there was much profit in it. I wouldn’t have the patience for the measuring, cutting and glueing etc but I admire yours!

Malcy, if I was wearing a hat I would remove it in your honour.

Amazing work and a beautiful piece.

Like everyone else, this sort of work is not for me, but I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into creating it.
