Title: Vase with a twist
Post by: Derek on September 18, 2020, 07:06:07 PM
Not done much turning as making wooden models Now they are finished I can get back to turning a little more.

This was just a case of having a play with a new tool for hollowing and at the same time I thought I would add some very subtle twists to the piece. Made with Yew and stands 6" and 3 1/2" at the widest.

C and C welcome

Hi Derek,

I like this although it does not stand out in the photo as Yew, but that is probably the photo.

The twists are different, the rounded edges have tended to blur them slightly into the rest of the shape but they do present a different visual image and I'm quite sure that when handled, fingers will follow them around and be an interesting texture.

Thank you Bryan.

Another photo which may show it off a little better, yes in the hand it is quite tactile as in that it flows with enough of the spiral to make it interesting to feel

Yes, I think the first photo had a strange colour cast to it?
