Title: Offering bowls
Post by: bodrighywood on May 26, 2020, 09:46:24 AM
Something Mark Sanger did in the magazine recently reminded me of these type of things I saw in India in the temples. They fill them with flowers and / or incense in somne form or other. Thee are both aroiund 8" (200mm) diameter and stand8 1/4" (210mm) tall. Woods are walnut and sycamore with ebomised stems. Fish by Mo kis pyro'd and coloured with calligraphy inks. They were  usually made from brass though occasionally wood. Don't think I have posted them earlier. If so apologies.

I made one of these some years ago, even down to the beaded upstand. It's been in 3 shops and various Artisan Markets, no-one has even looked at it - might have to remname it as an 'Offering Bowl' now.

I like both of these well turned and finished especially the lower one with Mo's artwork
